Please join us on Wednesday January 27 at 3pm EST for the next webinar in the Conviction Integrity Webinar Series- Second Look: Prosecutor-Led Resentencing. Hillary Blout, a former prosecutor and the Executive Director of For The People, and Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig will provide an overview of the growing movement among prosecutors to “look back” at past sentences and reevaluate whether there are people that no longer need to be incarcerated.  Hillary will provide an overview of DA-led resentencing laws, including California’s landmark legislation,  as well as broader resentencing laws that have emerged across the Country.  DA Reisig, who is the Vice President of the California District Attorney’s Association and one of the first California DA Offices to begin reevaluating past sentences.  Now entering his 13th year as the elected District Attorney and his 24th year in the office, DA Reisig will share his views on why he believes it’s the prosecutor’s job to look back at past decisions, past policies and remedy excessive sentences. They will discuss the legal mechanics of California’s DA Resentencing law and provide an overview of its application in two different cases.
